Now a part of STERIS Corporation, Calgon Vestal was a leading manufacturer of surgical instrument decontamination products, healthcare personnel handwashes, surgical scrubs and hard surface disinfectants.

Each year, Calgon Vestal played a major role in Infection Control Week, a national program aimed at helping health care professionals recognize the important role infection control and prevention play in reducing health care costs and improving patient health. Wehrman & Company's challenge was to help Calgon Vestal reach more than 3,100 infection control practitioners with educational materials.

We developed a direct mail campaign with the theme, "What's Bugging You?" offering information on topics ranging from antibiotic-resistant viruses and tips on handwashing, to the costs associated with hospital-borne infections. More than 40 percent of the recipients responded.
Meanwhile, Wehrman & Company developed a series of informative -- and fun -- "Germ Tracker" posters, calenders, literature, and even a computer screen saver program, all loaded with facts and tips relating to infection control practices and products.
